1. Travel cancellation insurance

There’s always a chance you can’t go on holiday or you have to interrupt it because of troubles at home such as a member of your family being admitted to hospital. This travel cancellation insurance covers the costs of cancelling personal trips that you have paid for using a KBC Brussels payment method. If you’re already on holiday and have to return early, you’ll receive compensation for the number of days’ holiday you miss. You are covered for claims of up to 10,000 euros.

What’s excluded?

  • Cancellations or interruptions due to non-stable medical disorders or injuries that already existed when the trip was booked
  • Claims that are the result of an excessive use of alcohol or medication or drugs, which were not prescribed by a doctor

2. Flight delay insurance

If your flight is delayed by more than four hours, flight delay insurance covers you for expenses incurred for food and drink or additional overnight accommodation for up to 150 euros per person. 

Exclusions include:

  • Delays due to a protest, strike or trade union action
  • Situations where equivalent alternative transport was available

3. Lost baggage insurance

If your baggage has gone missing when you arrive, lost baggage insurance covers you for expenses incurred for urgent purchases of necessary replacement clothing and toiletry articles. Depending on the situation, you’ll be entitled to compensation of 250 euros. If the delay exceeds 48 hours, the compensation of 250 euros is increased by 500 euros.

  • Baggage checked in too late

4. Hire car excess insurance

If the car you hired abroad has been damaged or stolen, hire car excess insurance repays you the excess that the rental company’s car insurer charges you.

Exclusions include:

  • Travel warnings issued for your destination at the start of the trip
  • Trailers

5. Extended warranty and purchase protection insurance

Protect your purchases with a Platinum Mastercard from KBC Brussels

  • Extended warranty: this cover adds a further two years to the two-year warranty required by law.
  • Purchase protection: this cover protects your purchases against accidental damage and aggravated theft (involving violence or forced entry) for up to 90 days after purchase. For example: don’t worry if you buy an expensive jumper and tear the sleeve a week later on a door handle, that’s covered too.

6. Online purchase protection insurance

This cover provides you with additional protection for online purchases in the EU or US. If the refrigerator you buy online is damaged on delivery or the wrong product is delivered and the supplier refuses to accept responsibility, we’ll make sure that you get your money back.

Be careful with online stores offering products at very low prices; they’re often not to be trusted. Check the accreditation of unknown online stores to see whether they are trustworthy and read their customers reviews.

7. Admission ticket cancellation insurance

If your buy tickets to a sporting event or concert, but are unexpectedly sick, this insurance reimburses you for the unused tickets for up to 500 euros.

8. Highest spending limit

The standard spending limit is set at 7,500 euros and we can always discuss any higher limit you might feel the need for.

9. Flexible repayments

If you want to spread your repayments over several months, your KBC Brussels Platinum Credit Card is linked to a KBC Brussels Flex Budget. This extra cash reserve can be repaid at your own pace. In exchange for a certain rate of interest, you choose how much you pay off every month.

10. Payments and cash withdrawals worldwide

You can pay securely where Mastercard is accepted in restaurants, hotels, online, abroad or wherever you are.

11. Contactless payments

This lets you pay using your credit card without having to enter its PIN. All you have to do is hold your card against the terminal. If you’d sooner not, you can disable the option in KBC Brussels Touch.
