Kate Coins are not like a traditional discount system, but are instead a benefits programme that rewards you with real value. For instance, you can use your Kate Coins to get cashbacks or other benefits at KBC Brussels and our partners*.

During special offer periods at KBC Brussels or our partners, you’ll automatically earn* Kate Coins (KTC) when you pay using a KBC Brussels card or app. You don't save time-limited points, but lasting value instead. Each Kate Coins is worth at least 1 euro and, in many cases, is actually worth more. For example, there are exclusive deals where you can exchange 10 Kate Coins for 15 euros. In effect, a regular purchase ends up providing you with an extra reward.

Your Kate Coins are securely stored in the KBC Brussels Mobile app. They remain valid, can’t be lost and always retain their value.

To earn Kate Coins, you must have a current account at KBC Brussels and activate ‘Personalised’ in the settings of the KBC Brussels Mobile app.

• Scroll to ‘Security and privacy’
• Tap ‘Privacy’ and then ‘Commercial settings’
• Select ‘Personalised’* under ‘What offers would you like?’
  

You can then start earning Kate Coins.

• From KBC: you earn Kate Coins when you buy a certain product.
• From our partners: you earn Kate Coins by buying products during the special offer period. Sometimes you do this on their website or in their shop, other times you may only need to follow a link (each benefit will tell you what you need to do).

That depends on the offer terms and conditions. Some offers can be used just once, others more than once.

When something is bought from a joint account, the Kate Coins are either divided up or allocated to one account holder, depending on the situation.

• From KBC Brussels: it can take up to 48 hours
• From partners: either right away or after the return period has ended
  

It may take up to 48 hours for the cashback you claimed to appear in KBC Brussels Mobile.

Cashbacks you claim in the Kate Coin Store are displayed right away.

When you buy something, you pay the full price. We’ll then refund part of that amount when you use your Kate Coins. Suppose you spend 100 euros and are entitled to 10 euros cashback thanks to your Kate Coins. You pay 100 euros, and we then refund 10 euros to your account, so you end up paying just 90 euros.

With a partner
Suppose you have 20 Kate Coins. A benefit is being offered at a partner in the shape of a 30 euro cashback in exchange for 20 Kate Coins.

You buy something for 100 euros at the partner and pay using a KBC card or app. After making the purchase, Kate tells you that you’re entitled to a cashback. You claim the cashback and 30 euros is credited to your account in exchange for your 20 Kate Coins.

With KBC
Suppose you have 20 Kate Coins. A benefit is being offered on a KBC Brussels product in the shape of a 30 euros cashback in exchange for 20 Kate Coins.

You use KBC Brussels Mobile to buy the KBC Brussels product and immediately indicate during the process that you want to use your Kate Coins for the discount. After making the purchase, we’ll credit 30 euros to your account.

You buy the KBC Brussels product through a branch or agent. After making your purchase, Kate tells you that you’re entitled to a cashback. You can claim the cashback and 30 euros is credited to your account in exchange for your 20 Kate Coins.

Your cashback will be credited to a personal KBC Brussels Current Account.

Any Kate Coins you could use at our external partners expired on 31 August 2025. It was only the Kate Coins related to partner deals that were removed, not the ones you earned at KBC Brussels.

Between mid-August and 1 September 2025, a pop-up appeared in the Kate Coin Store in KBC Brussels Mobile, telling you that the partner deals would expire. Please accept our apologies if you missed this notification and for any frustration this may have caused.

We launched a new, simpler and wider range of benefits in September 2025, as a result of which the old partner deals were discontinued. The Kate Coins linked to them had an expiry date and expired automatically if you hadn’t used them on time.

You’ll only see your active balance of the Kate Coins you’ve earned at KBC Brussels. The Kate Coins linked to partner deals were removed because they had an expiry date and hadn’t been used.

Only individuals over the age of 18 who use KBC Brussels Mobile (in a non-professional context) can earn Kate Coins.

There are a number of products or promotional campaigns for which you can use Kate Coins only once. The terms and conditions of our partners’ offers can be found on the relevant promotional campaign’s information page.

No, only new purchases made during the offer period are eligible.

Your Kate Coins are securely stored in the KBC Brussels Mobile app. They don't expire, you won't lose them and they retain their value even if you leave them for a while. Your Kate Coins are always worth at least 1 euro.

If you can't find a suitable benefit in the extensive range available, we’ll automatically credit your cashed-out Kate Coins to your personal KBC Brussels Current Account at the end of the year.

In 2025, you can carry your Kate Coins over into 2026 and, even if you don’t use them before the end of that year, we’ll still cash them out at that time. This too gives you the opportunity to continue saving in 2026 for a benefit that really appeals to you.

Your Kate Coins are always displayed first in your favourites. You cannot change that as it allows you to quickly see what benefits and cashback rewards are available to you.
