What can you do with Fitbit Pay?

Fitbit smartwatch

Fancy a coffee after your morning run or a quick bite on the go? Buy it in a twist of your wrist with Fitbit Pay. No wallet or phone needed!

Fitbit Pay is becoming Google Pay

Fitbit was acquired by Google in 2021. As a result, the wallet tile in the Fitbit app will be replaced by Google Pay. Google Pay will gradually become available to users of Fitbit smartwatches and fitness trackers with payment functionality.

Do you already make payments with Fitbit Pay?

You can continue to pay with Fitbit Pay until your linked KBC Brussels Debit Card is replaced (due to loss, theft, defect or expiry). You cannot link a new KBC Brussels Debit Card to Fitbit Pay.

In the Fitbit app on your smartphone, you will be prompted to set up Google Pay as soon as this is available for your device. Learn more about which Fitbit devices already support Google Pay. The Fitbit app will then allow you to link your KBC Brussels Debit Card to Google Pay, and you will be able to make payments with Google Pay.

Fitbit Pay uses near-field communication (NFC) technology, which enables your watch and a payment terminal to communicate when close to each other.

How to pay using Fitbit Pay:

  1. Open the payment screen on your device (if you’ve set Fitbit Pay as a shortcut button, press the left button on your device for two seconds)
  2. Enter your four-digit PIN for your device to see your default payment card appear on screen
  3. Hold your wrist 2 to 3 cm from the payment terminal (your watch vibrates and tells you when you’ve paid)

If a payment terminal isn’t recognising your Fitbit, make sure your watch is close enough to the terminal (2 to 3 cm) and let the cashier know that you want to pay by contactless.

Fitbit Pay payments do not have a separate limit. Each time you pay with Fitbit Pay, the amount concerned is deducted from your card's daily and weekly limits.

The limits for paying with Fitbit Pay are the same as for your KBC Brussels Debit Card.

Paying by Fitbit Pay is as safe and secure as contactless payments using your KBC Brussels Debit Card. Fitbit Pay uses the latest tokenisation technology to secure your purchases. Your card number is never stored or transmitted by Fitbit, nor is it given to merchants when paying for something, ensuring that your transactions are safe and secure.

You can pay quickly and easily with Fitbit Pay wherever you see the contactless payment symbol and the Maestro or Mastercard logo.
If Fitbit Pay is linked to:

  • Your Mastercard-branded KBC Brussels Debit Card, you can pay at any payment terminal that supports Mastercard
  • Your Maestro-branded KBC Brussels Debit Card, you can pay at any payment terminal that supports Maestro
  1. Download the Fitbit app to your Android or Apple phone and make sure your Fitbit is charged
  2. Open the app and go to your watch’s settings
  3. Tap Fitbit Wallet and follow the instructions to add your card

If you haven’t set a PIN yet, you’ll be asked to create a new one.

Good to know

Fitbit Pay can only be used with your KBC Brussels Debit Card, not with your KBC Brussels Credit Card or KBC Brussels Prepaid Card.

Before activating Fitbit Pay for you, KBC Brussels and Fitbit verify a few things like the type of card you have, its number and when it expires. If everything checks out, the app tells you that your digital card is ready for use. You also receive confirmation of this in KBC Brussels Mobile and KBC Brussels Touch.

Lost your Fitbit? Don’t worry. No one can use your watch without your PIN, which you need to enter to unlock your watch after you put it back on your wrist or to authorise a payment.

For added security, you can suspend the debit card on your watch in the Wallet section of the Fitbit app (even if your watch isn’t nearby). When you suspend a card, it remains stored in your Wallet, but you can’t use it to make payments with your watch.

When you remove your registered KBC Brussels Debit Card from your Fitbit app, you will no longer be able to pay with Fitbit Pay. As soon as you find or recover your Fitbit watch, you’ll need to register your KBC Brussels Debit Card again.

Block your card immediately using KBC Brussels Mobile. As soon as your card is blocked, you will no longer be able to use Fitbit Pay to make payments.

You can add your new KBC Brussels Debit Card later to Fitbit Pay.

Absolutely nothing! If your KBC Brussels Debit Card has to be replaced due to a defect or damage – or it has been automatically replaced because it is due to expire – we will make sure you can continue to use Fitbit Pay.

Your last three Fitbit Pay transactions are shown under ‘Wallet’ in the Fitbit app:

  1. Tap ‘Account’ on the Fitbit app’s dashboard
  2. Tap your watch icon then the Wallet icon
  3. Tap the debit card whose transactions you want to see and scroll down for your last three transactions

Your payments are also shown in your account’s transaction view in KBC Brussels Touch and KBC Brussels Mobile, and on your account statements.

The chances are you’ll find the answer on Fitbit's website. If necessary, you can always contact us too.
