KBC Brussels Sign for KBC Brussels Touch and KBC Brussels Invest FAQs

1. How do I activate the app the first time I use it?

After downloading the KBC Brussels Sign app on your smartphone, you have to activate it just once. While you are doing that, we create a unique link between the app on your smartphone and yourself (as KBC Brussels client).

There are two ways to activate your app:

  • If you already use the KBC Brussels Mobile app on your smartphone, activate it by signing with KBC Brussels Mobile.
  • If you don't use KBC Brussels Mobile yet, you should start doing that first. KBC Brussels Mobile is a free app that allows you to check the balance on your account, make a transfer and do much more besides, all while you're on the go.
    If you don't want to use KBC Brussels Mobile, you can activate the KBC Brussels Sign app using your bank card and the KBC Brussels Card Reader v2.0.
    If you don't have a card reader, request one now.

In the final step of the activation process, you need to set a five-digit secret code of your own choosing, which may be the same as the one for KBC Brussels Mobile. The app is now ready to be used.

2. How do I log in to KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Invest on my computer using KBC Brussels Sign?

On a computer which recognises you as a user, your name and – if already uploaded – your photo will appear in the first screen. Click this tile and the login screen will appear with the security method used when you were last logged in.

  • Change the security method using the icons to the left of the view. Select the smartphone icon
  • Launch the KBC Brussels Sign app
  • Click ‘Login’ in the app
    Your camera will be activated
  • Scan the QR code on your computer screen
  • Confirm logging in using your (five digit) secret code
  • Start using KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Invest logged in

When you log in for the first time on a new or different computer, or if you delete your cookies or switch to another browser, you should do the following:

  • Select 'New user' in KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Invest
  • Choose ‘Smartphone + %product.mobilesign%% app’ as your log-in method
  • Enter your client number and click ‘Confirm’
  • Launch the %%product.mobilesign%% app
  • Click ‘Login’ in the app
    Your camera will be activated
  • Scan the QR code on your computer screen
  • Confirm logging in using your (five digit) secret code
  • Start using %%product.touch%% or %%product.invest%% logged in

3. I need to fill in my client number. Where can I find it?

To log in to KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Invest using KBC Brussels Sign, you need your client number at KBC Brussels. The first time you use KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Invest on your computer, that client number will be saved automatically with your username. However, if you delete your cookies, if you switch to another browser or if you are logging in for the first time on a new or different computer, you'll need to fill in your client number manually.

Your card number is at the bottom of your bank card. You can also see your client number in the KBC Brussels Sign app itself:

  • Click the menu icon at the top left of the screen
  • Select ‘My profile’ and log in using your secret code

4. If I use KBC Brussels Sign to log in to KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Invest am I no longer able to log in using the KBC Brussels Card Reader?

Yes, that's allowed. You can switch between logging in with your bank card and card reader and with the KBC Brussels Sign app. For instance, you use KBC Brussels Sign to log in to KBC Brussels Touch at work and your bank card and card reader at home.

When it comes to signing transactions, you always use the same security method as the one you have logged in with.

5. Do I have to pay for KBC Brussels Sign?

No, it's free of charge, as are KBC Brussels Touch, KBC Brussels Invest and KBC Brussels Mobile.

6. Do I still need my card reader?

If you've switched to the KBC Brussels Signapp to log in to KBC Brussels Touch and KBC Brussels Invest, you won't need the KBC Brussels Card Reader anymore. But whatever you do, don't throw it away! If you buy a new smartphone or want to install one of KBC Brussels's apps again, you'll need it to activate the app(s) in question.

7. Can I also use the KBC Brussels Sign app to sign transaction in KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Invest on a tablet?

No, you can't.
To activate our KBC Brussels Touch and KBC Brussels Invest apps on a tablet (when the app is used for the first time), you need your bank card and the KBC Brussels Card Reader. It cannot be activated using KBC Brussels Sign.

After activating our KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Invest apps on a tablet, you use the secret code for the KBC Brussels Touch app to log in and to sign transactions. In principle, therefore, you no longer need your card reader.

8. On which devices can I install the KBC Brussels Sign app?

The app is available for iPhone (iOS – Apple) and for Android smartphones, but not for Windows Phones. KBC Brussels Sign is not available for tablets either.

As security is essential for this app, we are also stricter about smartphones that have been jailbroken or rooted. It is not possible to activate KBC Brussels Sign on such a device and you'll see the message that your device has been jailbroken or rooted.

Jailbroken (iOS) or rooted (Android) devices are ones that have had the manufacturer's standard protection removed to enable apps to be installed other than through the official app stores (iTunes and Google Play).

9. What is the difference between KBC Brussels Sign and KBC Brussels Mobile?

KBC Brussels Mobile is our app for banking on smartphones. You can use it to check the balance on your account, to transfer money, to pay online or in shops, and much more besides.

KBC Brussels Sign is another app for smartphones that you can use solely to log in to and to sign transactions in other PC apps for online banking from KBC Brussels, such as KBC Brussels Touch.

If both apps are installed and activated on your smartphone, you can launch the KBC Brussels Sign app from the start screen of KBC Brussels Mobile by tapping ‘SIGN USING KBC Brussels SIGN’. Of course, you can also launch KBC Brussels Sign directly by tapping the icon on your smartphone. Simply choose the method that's most convenient for you.

10. Can I launch KBC Brussels Sign from KBC Brussels Mobile?

If both apps are installed and activated on your smartphone, you can launch the KBC Brussels Sign app from the start screen of KBC Brussels Mobile by tapping ‘SIGN USING KBC Brussels SIGN’. Of course, you can also launch KBC Brussels Sign directly by tapping the icon on your smartphone. Simply choose the method that's most convenient for you.

11. Can I also add a second user in KBC Brussels Sign?

No, you can't. Only one user can be activated in the KBC Brussels Sign app.

12. I have two smartphones. Can I use KBC Brussels Sign on both of them?

No, for security reasons, KBC Brussels Sign cannot be activated for one person on more than one smartphone. If you install and activate the app on another smartphone, the app on the old device will be automatically disabled.

13. I have a new smartphone or another one. What should I do?

Run through the procedure again for first use of the app.

If you also use KBC Brussels Mobile, you should start by installing KBC Brussels Mobile and then installing and activating KBC Brussels Sign.

Note! When the KBC Brussels Sign app is being activated on another smartphone, you will see a screen informing you that the app on the old smartphone will be disabled for security reasons. You will also see the model of your old smartphone and the date you last used KBC Brussels Sign.

14. I've forgotten my secret code. What should I do now?

Don't worry, you can sort this out in one of two ways:

  1. If there is an active KBC Brussels Mobile app on your smartphone, the easiest solution is to remove the KBC Brussels Sign app entirely from your smartphone and download it again from the app store and activate it with KBC Brussels Mobile.
  2. If you don't use the KBC Brussels Mobile app, go to 'Forgotten secret code' under 'Settings' in the app's left-hand menu and go through the procedure using your bank card and the KBC Brussels Card Reader (version 2.0).

15. My app is blocked because I entered the wrong secret code three times. What should I do now?

Don't worry, you can sort this out in one of two ways:

  1. If there is an active KBC Brussels Mobile app on your smartphone, the easiest solution is to remove the KBC Brussels Sign app entirely from your smartphone and download it again from the app store and activate it with KBC Brussels Mobile.
  2. If you don't use the KBC Brussels Mobile app, go to 'Forgotten secret code' under 'Settings' in the app's left-hand menu and go through the procedure using your bank card and the KBC Brussels Card Reader (version 2.0).

16. I want to change my secret code. What do I need to do?

You can change it under 'Settings' in the app's left-hand menu.

17. The smartphone I use KBC Brussels Sign on has been stolen or lost. What should I do now?

Call 0800 65 65 0 at any time to block your KBC Brussels Sign account (and the other apps from KBC Brussels). As soon as you have a new smartphone, you can easily reinstall KBC Brussels Sign. 

18. I can't manage to scan the QR activation code on the KBC Brussels Touch and KBC Brussels Invest login screen. Is there a problem with my phone?

With certain models of smartphones, it's best if you scan the QR code from a little further away. Vary the distance between your smartphone camera and the QR code to get the camera to focus on the code.

19. How secure is the KBC Brussels Sign app?

KBC Brussels Sign is just as secure as using the KBC Brussels Bank Card with the KBC Brussels Card Reader.
