What are the benefits of my credit card?

Pay worldwide, including online

You can use your credit card to make payments worldwide and online.

Can I use my credit card to pay at filling stations?

If you want to be able to use your card to pay for refuelling at a filling station, you’ll need to make sure that there's at least 125 euros on it. This is usually the amount filling stations hold as a reserve on your card (though it can be more than that). It comes off the available balance on your card even before you've finished filling up and the exact amount is known. The actual cost of your fill-up will be charged to your card a couple of days afterwards, when the reserve on your card is released.

Pay abroad

Going abroad on holidays and want to use your card while you're away? You can use both KBC Brussels Touch and KBC Brussels Mobile to set where your credit card can be used: worldwide (excluding the US) is the standard setting. You can change this setting for use just in Europe or worldwide (including the US).

  1. Log in to KBC Brussels Touch
  2. Go to ‘Payments’
  3. Tap or click ‘... More’ at the top right
  4. Select ‘Debit cards’
  5. Select the card to be activated
  6. Tap or click ‘Manage card’
  7. Select ‘Can be used as standard in’
  8. Select where you want to use your card as standard and whether it’s being activated temporarily or permanently


 

On your smartphone

  1. Log in to KBC Brussels Mobile
  2. Go to  ‘Payments’
  3. Tap on 'Means of payment'
  4. Select the card to be activated
  5. Tap on ‘International card us’
  6. Select where you want to use your card as standard and whether it's being activated temporaly or permanently

How much does it cost to withdraw cash and make payments abroad?

Pay online

You can use your credit card to buy things from web stores. This function is enabled as standard. If you would rather it wasn't, you can easily disable it in KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Mobile.

How do I activate or deactivate the 'pay online' function?

On your desktop or tablet
 
  1. Log in to KBC Brussels Touch
  2. Go to ‘Payments’
  3. Tap or click ‘... More’ at the top right
  4. Select ‘Debit cards’
  5. Select the card to be activated
  6. Tap or click ‘Manage card’
  7. Select ‘Paying online’
  8. Indicate whether paying online is permitted or not


 

On your smartphone

  1. Log in to KBC Brussels Mobile.
  2. Go to ‘Payments’ at the bottom of the screen
  3. Tap ‘Means of payment’ at the top
  4. Select the card to be activated
  5. Go to ‘Settings’ and indicate whether paying online is permitted or not

Pay by contactless

You can use your prepaid card as standard to make contactless payments. If you'd rather not have this facility enabled, you can disable it in KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Mobile.

Withdraw cash wherever you see the Mastercard logo

You can withdraw up to 620 euros every four days. This can be done from any ATM in Belgium or abroad where you see the Mastercard logo.

How do I check my balance and transactions?

You can check the balance on your credit card in KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Mobile (delay of one or more days).

You can check your transactions:

  • on your monthly billing statements
  • using KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Mobile when you tap or click the card number (you'll see the transaction amount, type, location, etc.)

How do I change my credit card limit?

You can raise or lower the limit for your credit card in KBC Brussels Touch or in KBC Brussels Mobile. Any change you make takes effect right away.

Did you know that...
... you can also raise your maximum limit directly twice a year, each time for a one-month period. Please note that this service is not available for credit cards with a KBC Brussels Flex Budget facility.

If you have a credit card with a KBC Brussels Flex Budget facility and still want to raise your spending limit over the maximum amount, you can use KBC Brussels Touch to pay off your credit balance faster and so have the amount of credit available to you again after a few days.

If you want to set a higher limit for your credit card permanently (with or without a KBC Brussels Flex Budget facility), contact your KBC Brussels branch.

How do I change the PIN for my credit card?

How do I manage and adjust my KBC Brussels Flex Budget facility?

Got a credit card with a KBC Brussels Flex Budget facility? The 'Manage credit' tab in KBC Brussels Touch lets you know in an instant:
• how much credit you've already used (orange)
• how much is still available (green)
• how much you've spent in the month in question and what will be deducted from your facility the following month (yellow)


You can also use it to:
• transfer money to your KBC Brussels Current Account
• transfer money to your KBC Brussels Flex Budget facility so that you can spend more on your credit card again
• change the time you want to take to repay what you owe

What to do if your credit card is lost, stolen or retained by an ATM?

Block your card immediately with KBC Brussels Mobile if it gets lost or stolen, or call Card Stop on 070 344 344 (0.30 euros a minute).


To be on the safe side, you should also block your card if it’s retained by an ATM.

What to do if you forget the PIN for your credit card?

Get in touch with your KBC Brussels branch or KBC Brussels Live.

We’ll make sure that you can either:

  • set a new PIN at an ATM, or
  • arrange for a new one to be posted to your home address

What to do if your credit card has been blocked?

Get in touch with your KBC Brussels branch or KBC Brussels Live.


Or unblock your card yourself using KBC Brussels Mobile:
  1. Open KBC Mobile and go to ‘Payments > Means of payment’
  2. Tap your blocked card then ‘Unblock PIN and online banking access’
  3. Enter your card’s expiry date, then use your card in a high-street shop or at an ATM with the same PIN
  4. Withdraw cash or pay in a shop to make your card work online again

What to do if your credit card is defective?

  • Quickly replace your defective card using KBC Brussels Mobile.
    To do this, go to the ‘Manage card’ tab for your credit card.
  • If you haven't started using our app yet, get in touch with your KBC Brussels branch or KBC Brussels Live.
    We'll check your card and, if necessary, ensure that it is replaced as soon as possible.

Not enough money on account?

Some traders reserve an amount on your credit card whenever you book, reserve or pay for something using your card. This may happen, for instance, when you book a room in a hotel or when you rent a car. The time the reserve is released varies from trader to trader, but can range from a few days to as long as a couple of weeks.

How do I report a claim?

If you've requested a credit card and want it sent to your home address, it generally takes four days to reach you.
If you still haven't received it some time later, contact your KBC Brussels branch or KBC Brussels Live.
