What is a credit card?

A credit card is a payment card that lets you pay for things or withdraw cash at home and abroad. Payments by credit card don’t leave your account straightaway, but are rather charged to your account at a fixed time every month.

2. Extended warranty insurance

This cover adds a further two years to the two-year warranty required by law.

If your dishwasher or power drill gives up the ghost after three years, you will receive compensation for the cost of repairing or replacing it provided the item was purchased using your KBC Silver Credit Card.

3. Purchase protection insurance

This cover protects your purchases against accidental damage and aggravated theft (involving violence or forced entry) for up to 90 days after purchase. The items have to have cost over 50 euros and been purchased using your KBC Silver Credit Card.

If you catch your new jersey on a door handle after a week, that’s covered.

4. Standard spending limit of 2,500 euros

A KBC Silver Credit Card has a standard spending limit of 2,500 euros a month. Alter your limit in real time using the KBC Brussels Mobile app or KBC Brussels Touch.

Our apps even let you temporarily raise your spending limit over the maximum amount, as long as your card doesn’t have a KBC Brussels Flex Budget facility.

5. Our cheapest credit card

For as little as 3 euros a month, you have the convenience of a KBC Silver Credit Card, including your current account.

6. Flexible repayments

Your credit card spending is generally deducted from your account in one go in the next month. If you want to spread your repayments over several months, link your KBC Brussels credit card to a KBC Brussels Flex Budget facility. This extra cash reserve can be repaid at your own pace. In exchange for a certain rate of interest, you choose how much you pay off every month.

7. Contactless payments

This lets you pay using your credit card without having to enter its PIN. All you have to do is hold your card against the terminal. If you’d sooner not, you can disable the option in KBC Brussels Touch.

What does a Silver Mastercard credit card cost?

Price of a KBC Brussels Plus Account with a KBC Silver Credit Card 3 euros per month ((2 euros for the KBC Brussels Plus Account, 1 euro for the credit card)

Withdrawing cash in euros

  • At an ATM: 1% of the amount, with a minimum charge of 5 euros
  • Over the counter at a bank or bureau de change located abroad: 2% with a minimum charge of 5 euros

Withdrawing cash in a foreign currency

  • At an ATM: 1% of the amount (with a minimum charge of 5 euros) + 1.6% commission
  • Over the counter at a bank or bureau de change located abroad: 2% (with a minimum charge of 5 euros) + 1.6% commission

The KBC Silver Credit Card is a credit card issued by: KBC Bank NV, with registered office at Havenlaan 2, 1080 Brussels, Belgium, VAT BE 0462.920.226, RLP Brussels, FSMA 026256 A.

KBC Brussels Flex Budget is an open-ended credit facility linked to the KBC Silver Credit Card, KBC Gold Credit Card or KBC Platinum Credit Card and used as an additional means for drawing credit.

Lender and credit card issuer: KBC Bank NV. Subject to your card or credit application being approved by KBC Bank NV.

The annual percentage rates of charge of 12,44% for a KBC Silver Credit Card with KBC Brussels Flex Budget are calculated on the basis of the following assumptions:

  • *the standard credit amount is 2,500 euros for a KBC Silver Credit Card with KBC Brussels Flex Budget;
  • *the stated credit amount is drawn down immediately and in full by means of payment at a retailer; paying at retailers within the SEPA is the most common way the card is used;
  • *the variable debit rate of interest stands at 10,09% for a KBC Silver Credit Card with KBC Brussels Flex Budget;
  • *the fee for the credit card is 22 euros for a KBC Silver Credit Card with KBC Brussels Flex Budget;
  • *the credit has a term of one year;
  • *the credit amount is repaid in equal monthly instalments (at the end of each period); debit interest is calculated based on projected credit use and principal repayments.
